CV Steak – Restaurant Review

CV Steak LogoWe walked into the hustle and bustle of Carson Valley Inn in order to get to CV Steak. Once we arrived at the podium we were greeted by Mike Meza the Manager. He was very attentive and instantly walked us over to our booth. Once seated, Mike seemed very knowledgeable and extremely helpful when it came to explaining to me what I would be able to choose on their menu and what could be converted to Gluten Free.

Even though CV Steak doesn’t openly disclose they have gluten free entrées directly on their menu or website — they however can provide a wonderful gluten free experience in a very comfortable yet elegant setting for dinner.  And I have to say I was amazed at the numerous entrées I could choose from which includes items from their Appetizers, Chicken, Seafood, Pork and Steaks items as well as a couple of desserts like Assorted fresh berries with cream or even ice cream to end with.

I thoroughly enjoyed having my husband and friend Mark join me for dinner not only for the company but also so I could sample their meals as well. That night I ordered their 14 oz Rib Eye Steak (my favorite of all steaks) cooked medium rare with Sautéed Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions in addition to their Twice Baked Potato and a house salad topped with a gluten free Italian vinaigrette dressing minus the croutons of course. I also asked for an appetizer of their Escargot in a Garlic Butter CV Steak Escargotsauce. I was told the Escargot is normally placed on a toasted baguette… nevertheless our server brought me out the Escargot and the toasted baguette were on a separate plate. A+ right there for Hayley.

I literally have had a love affair with Escargot since I was 10 years old. My maternal Italian Grandfather had me try them and I have been hooked ever since. Nevertheless, the Escargots were delectable. Not rubbery at all. And the garlic butter wasn’t over powering the delicate flavors of the Escargot. Definitely would order this appetizer again.

House Salad

Hayley Tossing SaladsNext I was served my salad which to my surprise was made in front of us table side. Our wonderful server Hayley said she was adding extra tomatoes to my salad since I wouldn’t be having croutons. Totally unexpected, but awesome regardless. Then Hayley asked if I wanted cracked pepper… Why yes! Always get the cracked pepper on your salad – it is one of those accents that I believe totally compliments my salads – always. The salad itself was very flavorful and had a nice crisp and the extra tomatoes were a nice compliment.

Rib Eye

Next after a little break in between courses we were served our main course. My Twice Baked Potato was massive, and so large you could feed three people! My Rib eye was piled high with beautiful mushrooms and grilled onions… and my Rib Eye, from what I could see, looked amazing.

The mushrooms had a nice Marsala wine flavor that were divine! They were so wonderful I could had eaten the mushrooms as my meal. Pair them with a bite of Rib Eye and I was in tastebud overload. The Ribeye had a nice char on the outside, yet was tender and delicious on the inside and was cooked perfectly with a nice pink inside. My Twice Baked Potato had a lot of flavor and was just extremely tasty.  Seriously, I could had eaten so much more of my dinner had I not become so stuffed.

Surf and Turf

CV Steak’s meal portions are so wonderfully large there was no way I could actually think I could eat it all. But before I reached that point, or maybe beyond… I sampled Mark’s Lobster from his Surf & Turf entrée –… the Lobster was tender and oh so flavorful. It was paired perfectly with a nice dunk in the rich drawn butter that had a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Nevada Grill

Next I tried one of my husband’s Grilled Shrimps from his Nevada Grill entrée. I love shrimp yet they can be easily over cooked on occasion. My husband’s Grilled Shrimp were tender not rubbery and oh so delectable.

I definitely over ate… but how could you not, when your dinner is so heavenly. And all three of us were so stuffed that none of us had room for dessert, unfortunately.

I will absolutely be coming back to CV Steak and surely will be recommending this restaurant to anyone interested in a great local Nevada-style steakhouse.
